As with all things in construction, it is wisest to employ specialists to carry out specialist activities. The industry has often done this by employing specialist firms of tradesman for their relevant disciplines within the overall programme of works. Notwithstanding this, the industry has, however, always relied on these firms of tradesmen to plan their own logistics. In small scale projects this has generally been acceptable, but in more complex projects and in particular where there are constraints on delivery and material storage space, this reliance on the Trades has often resulted in an uncoordinated approach and delays to individual packages that has cascaded into more serious delays and disruption.

RKG Group are specialists in site logistics management, material handling and distribution. RKG believe that their expertise in material handling and distribution can remove the silos that have previously existed and allow projects to run more efficiently, thus removing a substantial historic risk.

Our Logistics Services include:
 Stores Management. The Issue and Receipt of all deliveries, is performed under exacting guidelines and procedures, which in turn are meticulously logged and inventoried at our on-site stores. Our management team oversees a team of highly trained personnel during the selection, collation and distribution of the specific requirements for each on-site location. Particular attention is paid to the requested quantities, which are cross-referenced against previous orders and the information is then communicated back up the chain of command, minimising over ordering within the stores.

Stock Control. We instill an understanding of the necessity of waste management and replacement of resources on a like for like basis particularly with consumables, ensuring a stringent and efficient order process reducing costly wastage.
Resource Distribution. Upon receipt of bulk deliveries, we guarantee that each on-site location is provided with the requested quantity of equipment, materials and consumables, all of which need to be inventoried following the same exacting processes and procedure conducted at all other levels. This ensures continuity and the safeguarding of information; it is imperative that this is conducted before materials are distributed to the correct locations.

In addition, RKG has access to two large storage facilities in Canterbury with 140,000 sq ft of indoor space with a maximum handling capacity of 35,000kg inside warehouses and a further 200,000 sq ft of external capability, as well as a number of satellite sites.
Vehicles range from small express delivery vans to 44 tonne articulated lorries, with a varied fleet of trailers including curtain sided, euro-liner, sliding roof, step frame, HIAB, low loader, flatbed and PSK.
We also have the potential to increase our storage capacity and to source facilities local to any project site in the UK. Alternatively, we can utilise your existing facilities and embed our management at any level, ensuring that all processes are streamlined and running to our exacting military standards.
With our haulage partners, Whites Transport, we are able to service operations nationwide, delivered by a further 150 vehicles at our disposal. We are accredited to the FORS Gold Quality Standard award and have recently acquired the CLOCS standard.
